With AbbottLink, instrument uptime will rise along with your laboratory management capabilities. AbbottLink electronically transmits critical operational and administrative information from your instruments to our internal systems via a secure Internet connection. This secure, encrypted technology enables transfer of key logs, report generation, and remote services developments.

Connectivity Requirements
- Local Area Network (LAN) drop with access to the Internet using HTTP over port 80. Note: Additional drops may be required depending upon the number & location of the instruments and desired location of the AbbottLink PC.
- Static or dynamic Internet Protocol (IP) assignment(s) for the AbbottLink PC
- Additional static IP assignments may be required for Architect or Ruby instruments
- Power source(s) for the AbbottLink PC and accessories

Unparalleled security
- The AbbottLink PC utilizes the Windows XP firewall and does not permit any unrecognized inbound communication. Log in to the PC is password protected.
- A small hardware firewall is used to isolate ARCHITECT and RUBY instruments from the customer’s network. The firewall resides next to the instrument.
- All data utilizes a 128-bit advanced encryption standard algorithm for transmission of data
- Protocols are in place to ensure that any protected health information (PHI) that may be on the diagnostic instruments is not transmitted electronically from the instrument to the enterprise system
- All confidential information regarding patients and physicians contained in any stream of data sent to the AbbottLink PC is removed before the necessary information is sent to the Enterprise over the internet
- PHI data is not stored on the hard drive of the AbbottLink PC
- AbbottLink does not calculate, adjust or report patient results
- Abbott personnel do not have access to PHI
- The physical security that protects the AbbottLink application, web and database servers residing in Abbott’s Data Center has been established based on Abbott corporate standards
- The AbbottLink PC is delivered without a monitor, keyboard or mouse to mitigate the risk of unauthorized access to the PC
- The AbbottLink PC does not need to be logged in to the customer’s network
- Axeda Device Relationship Management software on the AbbottLink PC is VeriSign certified
- Users of the AbbottLink system identify themselves to the system by presenting a credential in the form of a username and password. AbbottLink authenticates users based on credentials stored in a directory server
