Abbott's ARCHITECT Folate assay is first to be restandardised to new international standard
A restandardised ARCHITECT Folate assay launched by Abbott Diagnostics has become the first commercially produced high throughput system folate assay to be referenced to a new international standard. In 2005, the World Health Organisation highlighted the need for an internationally recognised reference standard for serum folate and, subsequently, made the WHO Serum Folate International Standard 03/178 material available. Abbott’s restandardisation further improves the accuracy and precision of the assay.
The ARCHITECT Folate assay can be used alone or as a part of a panel of metabolic assays to aid the differential diagnosis of anaemia or analyte specific deficiencies. Specific deficiencies can arise as a result of dietary inadequacy, or as an indication of physiological disease.
